I have been very active in the veterans community having served as State of MN DAV Commander and MN DAV Executive Director/Adjutant, after retiring from the IBM Corp. In my time as an advocate for veterans I had the opportunity to work closely with Jeremy Wolfsteller as he worked as a service officer for the MN Department of Veterans Affairs / American Legion and on the Minneapolis Veterans Hospital Advisory Committee. Jeremy was a valued expert in these positions and was noted for his professionalism and his dedicated service to veterans. He was also a key player in identifying veterans issues and playing an influential role in the legislative process to address these issues .On a personal note, Jeremy took ownership of my claim for disability compensation through the VA providing me advice, assistance which resulted in a favorable ruling .As a former Corporate Executive, I believe Jeremys decision to continue his advocacy for veterans in the Corporate world is great and no doubt have a broad impact and improve the quality of life for veterans and their families.
“NEVER CARRY A COFFIN ALONE”
Dr. Tom Rebbecchi, an Emergency Room Physician in New Jersey, has a favorite saying: “Never carry a coffin alone,” which means, in actuality, that “…if you work in a giving environment, there should be a low threshold to ask for help.” Jeremy created such an environment for the Veterans, like myself, who needed help and guidance with respect to their health and/or benefits needs. He came early, stayed late, and was always accessible in insuring that no Veteran carried his burden alone.
His operating mantra has always been “Service above Self,” and in every encounter with him, every single one, he displayed a “live to give” mindset and approach. He would meet with me in person when required, return my telephone calls when necessary, and would always display care and concern when clarifying the esoteric nature of various VA documents.
After having difficulty accessing the VA Healthcare System in Minneapolis, Jeremy reached out to me, both via email and telephone, and explained to me the nuances of the enrollment process, and how he could be of assistance to me. He got me the help and support i needed, and today i am a better person for it.
It is my absolute privilege to recommend Jeremy for a position of trust and responsibility with respect to Veteran Employers and Veterans themselves, and their earned health and benefit entitlements-both State and Federal.
With Jeremy involved, together will always be better, and no one will ever have to carry a coffin alone.
Thank you.
I want to express my appreciation to Veteran Service Officer Jeremy Wolfsteller and to let the American Legion know what a valuable asset he is. I was recently granted a 100% disability for ischemic heart disease due to my exposure to Agent Orange in Viet Nam. I knew Jeremy as he belonged to the same health club that I did.
About a year ago, Jeremy approached me at the club and advised that he had heard I was having heart related issues. Jeremy explained to me how the Veterans Administration (VA) had declared some heart related issues could be caused by Agent Orange. I had been diagnosed with several heart related issues; however, ischemic heart disease was not one of those issues and I had not heard of it before. Jeremy had me obtain my medical records and when he saw these records, he felt there was enough to file a claim with the VA, which he did. He also encouraged me to work with my doctor which resulted in several more heart related tests. A few months after submitting my claim, the VA denied my claim due to a lack of sufficient information. After a period of time, my doctor advised that these tests showed for certain that I had ischemic heart disease and started treatment immediately. Jeremy submitted these records to the VA and sometime later, the VA notified me that they were granting me a 100% disability for ischemic heart disease. It is possible that if not for Jeremy, I would never have found out that I had ischemic heart disease or submitted a claim for it or that I would be receiving treatment for this disease.
Words cannot describe what Jeremy did for me in this situation. I had previously referred several veterans to Jeremy for his assistance. I know that Jeremy helped these veterans and is continuing to help one of them. Jeremy also met with a group of veterans including myself to explain veterans benefits and answer our questions. One of those veterans is now receiving a 100% disability based on Jeremy’s information. Jeremy’s desire to help fellow vets is incredible and he is an invaluable asset to veterans.
